Trees

We learned about trees and their leaves for Tree Day!

There are a lot of different types of  trees in world like spruce, birch, oak, horse chestnut, sycamore, ash  and many more.

A tree has many different parts. The roots (which are under ground), the trunk and then the crown. Branches, twigs and leaves are all part of the crown.

The trees roots underground are usually the same size as the tree over ground. That’s a lot of roots!!

We can find out how long a tree lives by counting the rings  inside their trunk.

Trees can grow all over the world, but you wouldn’t find many trees in a city. You would find lots of trees together  in woods and forests and in the countryside.

Trees take away the carbon dioxide from our atmosphere and produce oxygen.

There are two main types of trees.

Evergreen which stay green all year.

Deciduous trees  lose their leaves in winter.  In the summer deciduous trees are green .Leaves fall off in Autumn and they can be yellow, red and brown.

The Giant Sequoia tree is the tallest tree in the world.

Trees can live for thousands of years.

Trees can be used for lots of different things:

Ash trees are used to make hurleys.

Trees give us fuel for the fire.

Lots of animals live in trees like birds, squirrels and lots of insects.

Trees can be fun to climb but you need to be careful when you climb because it can be dangerous.
